Suzi Ann Reader grew up in Hawaii where she dreamed from a very young age of being a designer. At eighteen she set off to pursue this passion on the east coast where she studied fashion and costume design at Bennington College in Vermont and the Boston School of Fashion Design. While working in costume design in Los Angeles she continued her design education at Otis School of Design focusing on textile design. Soon after she established a career in designing textiles for apparel. During her tenure as a senior textile merchandiser she developed patterns for such companies as Guess, Rampage, XOXO, and BCBG, that were produced throughout the world.

Scot Barr was raised in the tropics. The youngest son of an oil industry engineer, he was exposed at an early age to the art of entertaining in a bygone era. His influences from both eastern and western cultures gave him an appreciation of how people's lives and personal histories are reflected in their homes. As a young adult he apprenticed in the interior design industry before pursuing a career as a costume designer in film.

Suzi And Scot met in the film industry and found a shared love of design. While they continued in their careers, they developed a small line of decorative pillows for the interior design industry that reflected their love of fine fabrics and exquisite detailing. Heavy in hand painting and embellishment, the line was featured in companies such as Baker, Knapp and Tubbs and American Rag et Cie.

Suzi and Scot's ultimate dream was to create a interior design firm that would encompass all of their collective design skills and passions. In 2001 they made it a reality and opened SUZI SCOT Design. From their whirlwind design debut on HGTV's Designer's Challenge to present, they have enjoyed great success taking on a variety of residential interior design projects in the Los Angeles area. In the 2008 Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, the designers premiered their new line of environmentally friendly textiles. By using sustainable fabrics and eco-friendly production methods the pair hopes to inspire others to go green in style. Currently their fabrics are available through the Randolph & Hein showroom in the Los Angeles Pacific Design Center.

Their design philosophy is to create inspiring, livable interiors that are reflective of their clients' individuality. True to their roots, luxurious fabrics, sophisticated palettes and dressmaker detailing serve as inspiration. Quality and comfort are the cornerstones of their work. With each project they strive to maintain a balance between high art and modern functional living. Their interiors are infused with elegance and tradition, yet emboldened by colour and pattern; creating a look at once timeless and contemporary.
